Maintenance Engineer

Summary/Objective

The Maintenance Engineer will perform and coordinate the daily maintenance at The Center for the Performing Arts' facilities including shared spaces with The Studio and The Tarkington centers as well as the Great American Songbook Foundation.  This position will also include the coordination and oversight of contractor and vendor services related to the ongoing maintenance of all the CPA/GASF facilities.  This position will report to the Director of Facilities and will be responsible for collaborating with each department to ensure efficient and effective completion of services and maintenance of all facilities on campus.

Facilities:

  • Inspect, maintain, and repair building components to include windows, doors, door locks, baseboards, shelves, bathroom fixtures, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, kitchen equipment, various building systems, fire extinguishers, hardware, etc.
  • Assists in maintenance of mechanical equipment including energy management system software, scheduled oil changing, and greasing, belt & filter changes, air conditioners, compressors, boilers, pumps, and motors along with chemical feed equipment
  • Have general knowledge of operation of building HVAC system to perform various maintenance and safety checks on HVAC systems including filter changes
  • Maintain lights throughout buildings and grounds keeping all lighting systems functional including but not limited to repairs and changing light bulbs
  • Coordinates in-house daily needs with Center staff and janitorial staff on cleaning and even/meeting setups
  • Meet regularly with Director of Facilities to discuss equipment maintenance needs, professional service needs, maintaining cost in compliance with budgetary allocations
  • Assist and provide guidance to 3rd party contractor

Required Education and Experience (Indicate education based on requirements that are job-related and consistent with business necessity.)

  • High School Diploma or GED required (Advanced Degree Preferred)
  • Minimum 1-2 years of facilities, construction management, or similar experience
  • Understand building design documents including blueprints, specifications, as-built document, and O & M manuals
  • Knowledge of building operation systems including lighting, heating/cooling, fire alarm, etc.)

Desired Certifications

  • First Aid, CPR, AED Certification preferred
  • Previous certifications in powered industrial equipment desired

 

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities of any staff members.

 

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional event venue environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time and to move intermittently throughout the workday
  • Ability to work at heights using powered industrial equipment
  • Ability to bend, push, lift, carry, pull, and move up to fifty (50) pounds

  • Ability to perform focused work with close attention to detail
  • Maintains irregular and extended working hours.
  • May be exposed to irregular ranges of humidity and temperature.

 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a Full Time, Exempt Position with Full Benefits, and 401k eligibility. Will be required to be on call, work evenings and/or weekends.  This position is eligible for overtime compensation for hours worked exceeding 40 worked hours per week.

 

Travel

Local travel may be needed. Applicant must provide and maintain suitable vehicle. May attend national conferences as requested.
