Story Alive!

Story Alive! is an early-learning program that uses storytelling, music, movement and crafting as an introduction to arts appreciation. The sessions draw from performing arts-themed books and a wide variety of music to teach creative movement. To wrap up each session, the participants have an opportunity to express themselves by creating take-home craft projects related to each week’s story. Come to the Center with your preschooler to help bring the Story Alive!

  • Designed for ages 4 to 6.
  • Participation is limited to 10 children, with a minimum of five required to offer the class.
  • Classes are Friday mornings at 10 a.m.
  • Craft supplies will be available for all registered children.
  • Cost: $60 for all six class sessions or $15 for each single session.
    • Come to one session or all six! Register for the entire series and get two sessions free.
  • Registration ended for 2022

July 15Corduroy Takes a Bow

Come see a world-class concert hall with your preschooler in this week’s Story Alive! Kids are encouraged to bring their favorite bear toys for this session, which starts with a reading about a little girl’s first visit to a theater. We will then tour the Palladium concert hall and make some “beary” special crafts.

Come celebrate Christmas in July with your preschooler at Story Alive! This session starts with a reading of The Night Before Christmas, followed by moving along to holiday-themed music, practicing the Freeze Dance and making crafts.

July 29The Wild Symphony

Come be a musical animal at this week’s Story Alive! This session starts with a reading of The Wild Symphony. Then we’ll get the wiggles out by jumping like animals to classical music from the story, followed by craft time.

August 5 Goldi Rocks and the Three Bears

Come be a rock star at this week’s Story Alive! This session starts with a reading of Goldi Rocks and the Three Bears. Then we will play percussion instruments to classic rock tunes and conclude by creating a take-home music related craft.

August 12Octopus’s Garden

Come rock out like a sea creature at this week’s Story Alive! This session starts with a reading of Octopus’s Garden. Next, we’ll create take-home “under the sea” crafts and conclude by moving like underwater sea creatures to classic Beatles tunes.

August 19 The Ugly Duckling

Come be a graceful swan in this week’s Story Alive! The session will start with a reading of The Ugly Duckling. Then we’ll move around to ballet-themed music and practice being graceful. We’ll conclude by making take-home duckling crafts.
