For many decades, children and adults around the world have been captivated by the enchanting Melchior Marionettes. Third generation puppeteer, Heidi Shackleford, will share with us how her grandmother, a German immigrant and artist, founded the company in the 1950s creating beautiful hand-crafted puppets brought to life by her construction and puppeteering skills. Heidi’s mother, Peggy, joined the artistry in the 70s continuing the tradition. Today, Heidi manages the technology associated with the productions and as the fiber arts teacher at Center Grove High School, is uniquely skilled to continue the tradition of bringing these incredible handmade puppets to life. Children, parents, and grandparents have delighted in The Melchior Marionettes holiday show which has been part of the Center’s Peanut Butter & Jam series the past 4 seasons.
About the Presenter:
Heidi holds a BFA in fine arts & BA in art education from Columbus College of Art and IUPUI. Previous to becoming the art teacher at Center Grove High School, Heidi was a full time puppeteer.
