Cuban-inspired and guaranteed to get you on your feet, the mambo is one of ballroom’s most energetic and passionate dances. Anyone who has seen Rita Moreno’s Oscar-winning performance in West Side Story will recall her expressive execution of the mambo in the movie’s pivotal gym scene.

In this Dance Discovery session, we will explore the swivels, spins, flowing movements and sharp, quick steps of this high-energy dance.

Suggested for ages 12 through adult. No partner or previous dancing experience is necessary to register.

Following this session, consider attending An Evening with Rita Moreno on Dec. 6.

Appropriate attire: Clothing that is comfortable to move in, with dance shoes or non-rubber-soled shoes. No sandals, please.

About the instructor: Holly Stults has been dancing and performing all her life, but her real job is Education Programs Director at Civic Theatre.
