Live at the Center is a new series of livestreamed concerts featuring local and regional artists in genres from jazz and classical to soul and indie rock. Whether on desktop, mobile device or smart TV, viewers anywhere can enjoy a front-row perspective on Indiana’s top talent, with stereo sound and multi-camera HD video.
Describing himself as the “Everyday Soul Singer,” Indianapolis vocalist and songwriter Bashiri Asad has spent the past decade developing a sound he calls “IndySoul,” inspired by the classic music of Donny Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, Sam Cooke and Otis Redding. He has been a featured artist on WFYI’s Small Studio Sessions and at the Arts Council of Indianapolis’ annual Art & Soul Celebration. His recent albums include 2017’s A Girl Named Charlie and 2019’s The Way We Are featuring the band Be On It. #IndySoulLive
