With a history dating to the 1890s, the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra has been known since 1945 as the national orchestra of Bulgaria and remains one of that nation’s leading cultural institutions. Its repertoire comprises works from the entire historically available range of music – from classical to contemporary opuses, including premiere performances of numerous works by Bulgarian composers. The orchestra has won praise from audiences throughout Europe, Asia and North America. Since 2017, Nayden Todorov has served as its general director.
