Disability advocate to speak May 28

5/13/2025 12AM

Though born without hands and unable to walk, Ryan Hudson-Peralta has found success as a father, husband, designer, inventor, actor, business owner and international speaker.

Accessibility requires more than ADA, says Ryan Hudson-Peralta

CARMEL, Ind. – A consultant who conducted an accessibility audit at Allied Solutions Center for the Performing Arts will share ideas for accommodating people with disabilities in a free public presentation Wednesday, May 28, at the Payne & Mencias Palladium.

Born without hands and unable to walk, Ryan Hudson-Peralta hasn’t let his disability stop him from becoming a father, husband, designer, inventor, actor, business owner, international speaker and disability advocate for over 30 years. His consulting agency, Equal Accessibility, offers ideas and tools for businesses to provide inclusive experiences for their disabled guests and team members.

Equal Accessibility recently conducted an audit for Allied Solutions Center, attending performances and inspecting the three-venue campus to assess how the organization can work beyond the basic requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act to ensure that every individual, regardless of ability, can enjoy a more equitable and enriched visitor experience.

In Hudson-Peralta’s 11 a.m. talk, presented by Allied Solutions Center and the City of Carmel, he will share some results from the audit and discuss his broader mission to foster a culture of accessibility in which inclusivity is no longer an aspiration but a reality.
