National honor recognizes diligent work by facilities team

CARMEL, Ind. – Allied Solutions Center for the Performing Arts has earned national recognition for the quality of the air inside its flagship venue, the 1,500-seat Palladium concert hall.

Only 58 buildings nationwide received the National Air Filtration Association’s Clean Air Award for 2024. The Clean Air Award is presented each year to building owners and managers who take steps to significantly improve the quality of their indoor air by increasing the level or efficiency of their HVAC air filtration system in 10 specific categories.

“As our members and their clients continue to navigate the evolving landscape of indoor air quality, the nominated facilities have demonstrated a remarkable commitment to providing healthier, cleaner environments,” said NAFA Executive Director Emily Bardach “Their innovative approaches to filtration and system hygiene showcase the power of proactive measures in creating a more sustainable and well-being-focused built environment.”

Ed Penman, Vice President of Facilities for Allied Solutions Center, credited team members Ryan Gray and Andrew Taylor – as well as the center’s cleaning contractor, Marquis Commercial Solutions – for their diligent attention to detail. Regular maintenance of the building’s HVAC systems includes frequent inspections and the use of high-grade air filters.

“I’m very proud to see our people earn this recognition for their work,” Penman said. “A big part of it is just how clean we keep the building. We do the ABCs really well.”

Candidates are nominated for the award by NAFA members and must submit detailed and specific steps taken toward cleaning the indoor environment through “best air filtration practices” and system hygiene.  Nominees are judged by the NAFA Clean Air Award Committee, and each recipient receives a custom-designed award, building signage and recognition for their efforts. Award-winning buildings must submit inspection data each year to retain the NAFA Clean Air Award.
