Job Title: House Manager, Allied Solutions Center for Performing Arts

Reports to: Front of House Manager

 

Position Purpose

Allied Solutions Center for the Performing Arts is seeking a Part-time House Manager (HM) to serve a leading role in ensuring patrons have a positive experience while visiting Allied Solutions Center for the Performing Arts and the Great American Songbook Foundation (ASC/GASF) by managing the Volunteer Usher Corps. The HM is responsible for effective patron management during events at campus venues (Payne & Mencias Palladium, the Tarkington, the Studio Theater) and will serve as the front of house representative during an emergency. The HM must be willing and prepared to approach the public with a positive attitude and readiness to solve problems quickly and comprehensively.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Serve as House Manager for assigned events, fulfilling the following duties:

  1. Serve as primary liaison between front and back of house staff
  2. Coordinate with Event, Facilities and Security Teams to ensure venues are ready and safe prior to patron entry and after patron exit.
  3. Assign Volunteers to event roles, such as ticket scanning, program distribution, seating, and wayfinding.
  4. Address and resolve patron issues including, but not limited to, seating problems, late arrivals, camera/video use, etc.
  5. Respond to medical emergencies and coordinate with Security Team in notifying emergency services; oversee patron management and complete incident report.
  6. Enter time worked in Paylocity.
  7. Enter post-production data (hours, ticket counts, etc.) into VenueOps.

Education and Experience

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and/or experience.

  • Minimum two years event and/or volunteer management experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in a performing arts, theatrical or public assembly facility is preferred.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED Training (Provided by Employer)

 

Supervisory Responsibility

This position supervises volunteer ushers assigned to events.

 

Work Environment

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, scanners, copiers and other equipment.

  • Ability to stand for several hours prior, during, and after the performances.
  • Ability to climb stairs.
  • Strong sensory skills, such as strong eyesight, hearing, and dexterity, especially in low-light situations
  • Ability to bend, push, lift, carry, pull, and move up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to speak and listen clearly, especially via hand-held radio

 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is an occasional part-time, non-exempt position which requires working nights and weekends, some holidays and possibly some morning and afternoon shifts during the week, if available. Flexibility is required. Approximately 15-25 Hours per week, in season.
