Staff Spotlight: Brian Seitz, Patron Services Manager

12/3/2018 12AM

Yes, the folks at the Center’s Box Office sell tickets, but they do so much more. As the public face of our operation, they know our patrons’ tastes, they handle special seating needs, they are often the first to hear any praise or complaints, and they cheerfully and professionally do what it takes to assure that every patron has an exceptional performing arts experience. That’s why we call them the Patron Services Department.

No one exemplifies that spirit more than department Manager Brian Seitz, a guy who puts the “serve” in Patron Services. A graduate of Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music, he worked in a similar capacity for the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra before joining the Center’s staff a whopping eight years ago – before the Palladium even opened to the public. Raised in Elkhart, Ind., Brian now lives in Carmel with his wife and their three children.

In a nutshell, what do you do around here?
My primary responsibility is making sure that Patron Services provides the best customer service possible for our guests. I also am responsible for all ticketing for Center Presents, Resident Company, and Rental events. I take pride in making a difference for each and every person that we come in contact with.

What is your favorite part of the job?
I enjoy the feeling of knowing that someone is fully satisfied with our service, to the point that hopefully they will remember that experience and become a lifelong fan of the Center. The reason our organization exists is for our guests, and that drives me every single day.

Are you now, or have you ever been, a performing artist?
I studied trumpet for many years, and for quite a while was pursuing an orchestral career. In addition to my love for classical music, I was reasonably comfortable in jazz settings. I come from a family of singers, and now I actually enjoy singing much more than trumpet!

What are your interests or hobbies outside of work?
I am an active runner, which is my main form of exercise and keeps me on the level! I also enjoy hiking and learning about birds. I spend a good deal of time keeping up with the Colts and Pacers. My wife and children are a high priority for me, so we try to spend time together whenever we can.

What artist would you most like to see perform at the Center?
Alison Krauss. Her voice is fantastic, not to mention her fiddle playing. I think she would be a perfect fit for our venue. Hopefully we will get Union Station as a package deal when we finally get the chance to bring her here.
