Staff Spotlight: Robin Briskey, Annual Fund & Corporate Relations Manager

She has a serious job with a long title. She also can carry a tune.
After vocalizing her way through North Central High School and Indiana University, Robin Briskey took a job nearly three years ago in the Center’s Patron Services department – often referred to as the Box Office. Rising to the level of supervisor, she developed an interest in the fundraising work that helps nonprofit organizations like the Center for the Performing Arts pay their bills.
In a nutshell, what do you do around here?
My job consists of two main parts: I’m responsible for the mailers, email, social media and other efforts that encourage people to contribute to the Center and the Great American Songbook Foundation. I also make sure the Center and the Foundation are fulfilling their agreements with sponsors about the recognition and benefits they receive.
What is your favorite part of the job?
My favorite part of my job is being able to develop deeper relationships with our patrons by connecting their mission with ours. Everyone has their own story that explains why they feel connected to the arts, and I love hearing each and every story unfold and learning about their passions.
Are you now, or have you ever been, a performing artist?
I have been a singer my whole life, and I was a member of the North Central Counterpoints in high school (“CP, Let’s Go!”). I also was a Singing Hoosier at IU and participated in the vocal jazz ensemble IUnison. Though I do not currently have a formal outlet for singing, I am actively on the search.
What do you want more people to know about the Center?
I would like more people to know that housed at the Center, in the Palladium, is the affiliated Great American Songbook Foundation and its Exhibit Gallery. The current exhibit comes from the Foundation’s own archives and gives an in-depth look at the Andrews Sisters. It’s also free and open to the public Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and at select Palladium concerts.
Who has been your favorite performer at the Center?
It is definitely a toss-up between Alan Cumming and Jon Batiste’s Stay Human band. Both performances were extremely entertaining, moving and inspiring. They both also affirmed my passion for working in the arts.
What artist would you most like to see perform at the Center?
BRANDI CARLILE!!!!!
