GRIMMZ Fairy Tales is a new play for children that centers on two modern-day street performers, Jay and Will, who bring the time-honored stories of the Brothers Grimm to life with a contemporary urban spin. Performed in hip-hop style amid a brick landscape with graffiti and flashing lights, the featured tales include “Hansel and Gretel,” “Rapunzel” and “Snow White & the Seven Shawties.” The production was developed by the New Jersey-based Experiential Theater Company in partnership with the North Carolina-based Children’s Theatre of Charlotte. A free matinee for school groups is scheduled for the next morning.
