Position Title: Maintenance Engineer, Part-time

Reports to: Vice President of Facilities

 

Position Purpose Allied Solutions Center for the Performing Arts is seeking a part-time Maintenance Engineer to perform the daily maintenance at The Payne & Mencias Palladium, as well as the Great American Songbook Foundation. This position will also include the coordination and oversight of contractor and vendor services related to the ongoing maintenance of all the CPA/GASF facilities. This position will report to the VP of Facilities and will be responsible for collaborating with each department to ensure efficient and effective completion of services and maintenance of all facilities on campus.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Serve as Maintenance Engineer for assigned events, fulfilling the following duties:

 

  • Inspect, maintain, and repair building components to include windows, doors, door locks, baseboards, shelves, bathroom fixtures, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, kitchen equipment, various building systems, fire extinguishers, hardware, etc.
  • Assists in maintenance of mechanical equipment including energy management system software, scheduled oil changing, and greasing, belt & filter changes, air conditioners, compressors, boilers, pumps, and motors along with chemical feed equipment
  • Have general knowledge of operation of building HVAC system to perform various maintenance and safety checks on HVAC systems including filter changes
  • Maintain lights throughout buildings keeping all lighting systems functional including but not limited to repairs and changing light bulbs
  • Coordinates in-house daily needs with Center staff and janitorial staff on cleaning and event/meeting setups
  • Meet regularly with Facilities team to discuss equipment maintenance needs, professional service needs.
  • Work with Production to ensure all systems operate efficiently

Education and Experience

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and/or experience.

  • High School Diploma or GED required (Advanced Degree Preferred)
  • Minimum 1-2 years of facilities, construction management, or similar experience
  • Understand building design documents including blueprints, specifications, as-built document, and O & M manuals
  • Knowledge of building operation systems including lighting, heating/cooling, fire alarm, etc.)
  • First Aid, CPR, AED Certification preferred

 

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities of any staff members.

  • Ability to stand for several hours prior, during, and after the performances.
  • Ability to climb stairs.
  • Strong sensory skills, such as strong eyesight, hearing, and dexterity, especially in low-light situations
  • Ability to bend, push, lift, carry, pull, and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to speak and listen clearly, especially via hand-held radio

 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a part-time, 20 hours per week, non-exempt position which requires working nights and weekends. Flexibility is required.
