Staff Spotlight: Becky Lee Meacham, Director of Marketing

9/4/2019 12AM

It’s a simple fact: You can’t enjoy a concert if you never heard about it in the first place. Keeping the public informed about the Center’s wide array of performances and experiential opportunities is the chief concern of Becky Lee Meacham, our Director of Marketing.

After graduating from Southport High School in Indianapolis and the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City, Meacham began a career in theater and arts administration that brought her to the Center nearly six years ago, initially as Audience Development Coordinator. She now lives in Broad Ripple with her husband, Dean, and their dog-baby Wilbur, and despite the busy day job, she still finds time to appear in local stage productions.

Meacham kindly agreed to share a bit about her world.

In a nutshell, what do you do around here?

My primary role here at the Center is to assist in our overall marketing strategy. I place all of our media buys, manage production of all of our print, radio, TV and digital ads, manage our website, and serve as marketing liaison for our Resident Companies and rental clients. Basically, I keep things rolling so that the community is aware of all the amazing things going on around here!

What is the coolest thing that ever happened to you on the job?

I received a phone call from Jack Jones to discuss the marketing for his show last season. Normally, we speak to artist managers, so it was neat to talk to him directly and he was super nice!

Are you now, or have you ever been, a performing artist?

I studied musical theater in college and worked regionally as an actress until I moved back to Indy in 2013. I try to stay active in the Indy theater scene as my schedule allows, so you might catch me on stage a few times a year.

What artist would you most like to see perform at the Center?

DOLLY PARTON! I serve on the Center’s programming committee, and I bring my Dolly Parton coffee mug to our weekly meetings for good luck, hoping we can get her on our season lineup someday. I would also LOVE to see Carole King at the Palladium.

If you could do a different job at the Center for a day, what would it be?

Working a day with the production team would be fun. I’d love to get away from my desk and be a part of actually producing the show with the folks backstage.
