World Voice Day and How to Celebrate

3/16/2025 12AM

Allied Solutions Center for the Performing Arts celebrates World Voice Day each year with an evening of open-mic performances at the Palladium, free and open to the public. This year's event takes place April 10.

Annual event celebrates human voice, promotes vocal health

World Voice Day, observed annually on April 16, is a global celebration of the human voice and all it can achieve. From public speakers and singers to teachers and voiceover artists, people across diverse fields rely on their voices to connect, educate and entertain. However, few of us truly appreciate how vital vocal health is until we experience a problem like losing our voice. That’s why World Voice Day matters: It brings the power of vocal expression into the limelight while also encouraging everyone to care for and celebrate their voices.

In the United States, many communities and arts centers come together each year to mark World Voice Day with concerts, workshops and lessons that emphasize proper vocal technique and voice preservation. Join us at Allied Solutions Center for the Performing Arts for our free World Voice Day event, an excellent opportunity for vocal enthusiasts of all ages to learn, perform and show their support for vocal arts in an uplifting environment. If you’ve ever considered polishing your speaking or singing skills, there’s never been a better time to dive in and explore how your voice can resonate.

What Is World Voice Day?

World Voice Day began with medical experts, speech-language pathologists, and performers determined to elevate awareness of vocal health. Over time, it has evolved into a worldwide observance that encourages us to recognize the intricate workings of our voices and learn how to protect them. Professionals advocate daily habits – hydration, correct posture and regular checkups or workshops – to keep the vocal cords functioning at their best.

Beyond delivering our thoughts, the voice expresses emotion, conveys confidence and shapes our presence in any setting, from the stage to the classroom and beyond. Proactive care helps ward off strain, nodules and other issues that can derail both speech and singing. By embracing proven techniques and mindful routines, we can nurture our voices and maintain clarity, range and resilience. World Voice Day reminds us that the human voice is a powerful, expressive asset worthy of respect and celebration.

How to Celebrate World Voice Day

If you’re eager to mark World Voice Day, here are several ways to participate:

Attend a Live Event

Experience the excitement of World Voice Day at Allied Solutions Center for the Performing Arts in Carmel, Indiana. On April 10, 2025, we’ll transform the Palladium into a cabaret for one special evening. Singers of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to join our piano accompanist and MC for an open-mic night that is free, informal and open to the public. The performers and audience will sit nightclub-style at tables on the stage, with a cash bar for anyone who needs a little liquid courage. By taking part in the festivities, you can witness firsthand the transformative power of live vocal performance.

World Voice Day is the perfect time to begin a daily practice, setting you up for success throughout the year.

Explore Different Styles of Vocal Expression

The voice is versatile, capable of everything from operatic arias to spoken-word poetry. Challenge yourself by experimenting with new musical genres, rap verses, or theatrical monologues. Trying different forms of vocal art can expand your vocal range and enrich your overall artistry.
