Gala will celebrate Center’s first 10 years

Believe it or not, the Center for the Performing Arts will celebrate its 10th anniversary during the upcoming 2020-2021 performance season. We’ll be marking the occasion in numerous ways throughout the year, but perhaps most elegantly at our 10th Anniversary Gala presented by Krieg DeVault on Sept. 12.

In case you missed the recent announcement, IU-born a cappella heroes Straight No Chaser will headline the event, which also includes cocktails, dinner, a live auction, an afterparty and the posthumous Great American Songbook Hall of Fame inductions of singer-songwriter-actress Peggy Lee (“Fever”) and composer-playwright Meredith Willson (The Music Man).

Tables and seats are already selling like black-tie-optional hotcakes, so don’t delay! More information is available at TheCenterPresents.org/Gala. For reservations, email Gala@TheCenterPresents.org or call (317) 819-3534.

GHDT's Exodus returns by popular demand

Though written thousands of years ago, the biblical slaves-fleeing-oppression story of the Exodus still resonates today, especially in the hands (and feet) of our esteemed resident company Gregory Hancock Dance Theatre. GHDT won high acclaim last season upon the premiere of Exodus, an original production that updates the historic theme to tackle contemporary issues such as environmental degradation, racism and gun violence.

Set to a score of epic symphonic and choral music, Exodus returns to the Tarkington theater April 3-5 for three performances, scheduled 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. Get your tickets here, and get more information at (317) 844-2660, ghdt@sbcglobal.net or www.gregoryhancockdancetheatre.org.
