Interlude - January 7

January 7, 2021

Over an exterior photo of the Center for the Performing Arts' campus, the text reads "Interlude: Virtual Arts and Entertainment from the Center"

Tonight’s events, comedy reading, New Year’s tunes and more

Welcome back to Interlude, where we are celebrating the launch of a hopeful new year with another round of engaging and inspiring arts and entertainment opportunities.

Tonight: Beatles history and local, original music

Author Dave Schwensen and singer-songwriter Jeff Kelly

The Center has two great options tonight for your online enjoyment and edification:

Live at the Center sponsored by Allied Solutions

And if you’re torn between the two, keep in mind that Kelly’s set and previous Live at the Center shows are posted for later viewing on the Center’s YouTube channel.

Roles remain for comedy reading

Fun roles are still available for next week’s Zoom gathering of the Palladium Players, the Center’s series of casual discussions and table readings of classic literature for the stage. The Jan. 11 session will tackle a scene from Noel Coward’s ghostly comedy Blithe Spirit.

Even if you’ve never delved into the world of theater, Palladium Players – as noted in this Current newspaper story – is a free and risk-free way to dip your toe in. Learn more about the play and register here.

Relive a decade of musical Januaries

Even the chilly month of January has brought hot music to the Center over the past 10 years, from the jazz grooves of Ramsey Lewis to the country-pop hits of Kenny Rogers and much in between.

Relive those nights with us through the latest edition of the Shepherd Insurance Rewind Playlist.

Thanks to you, we’ve met our match!

Fireworks burst over the Palladium

We are excited to start this new year with some fantastic news, and a big thank you to the many new donors and donors who increased their support of the Center at the end of 2020. Your overwhelming generosity unlocked the $10,000 matching gift from John and Marianne Hart!

We are so grateful for the Harts for doubling down for the arts, and for the many donors who make the Center’s mission possible. Because of you, we can look forward to joining together for more joyful moments of music and inspiration in 2021.
