Zach Brock Quintet – Drewry Simmons Vornehm Jazz Series
Originally scheduled to perform at the Palladium tomorrow night, Zach Brock is a Grammy Award-winning violinist and composer whose music evokes the spirits of John Coltrane, Béla Bartók and Jimi Hendrix. Best known for his work with the instrumental supergroup Snarky Puppy, he was Downbeat Magazine’s Rising Star Violinist of 2013 and has recorded and toured with jazz greats Stanley Clarke, Phil Markowitz and Wycliffe Gordon.
Brock is an interesting and thoughtful guy, as you can read in our recent interview. And here's some content you can enjoy at home:
- A bluegrass/gypsy jazz duo rendition of Sonny Rollins’ "Pent Up House" (a title many of us can relate to right now)
- "Jazz Violin? Holy Shat!", a recording of Brock’s recent virtual class on touring and gear
- An excerpt from his online class about the Snarky Puppy “Lingus” solo
Gaither Vocal Band
Also expected at the Palladium this weekend was the great Gaither Vocal Band, led by legendary gospel songwriter and Indiana native Bill Gaither. Fortunately, he and his family and friends have a multimedia legacy we can dip into anytime, including these tidbits:
- Bill and Gloria Gaither catch up with fellow gospel singer Lynda Randle on Facebook Live
- Bill Gaither's More Than The Music podcast, featuring interviews with a variety of celebrities and performers
- Bill and Gloria Gaither's recent YouTube premiere of their "Favorite Homecoming Hymns," featuring past performances and personal reflections
- Gaither Vocal Band's performance of "Hear My Song, Lord"
Need a lift? Palladium has some
It’s time for another installment of Places, Please! sponsored by Shepherd Insurance, the series in which Vice President of Operations Jeff Steeg reveals the secrets of the Center’s venues.
Today, Jeff takes us below the Palladium concert hall, where innovative lift technology allows the production team to remove and store large blocks of seating when necessary to extend the stage or accommodate extra sound and lighting equipment.

A cappella octet celebrates beauty and bravery
And the award for Most Creative Use of Bathroom Tissue in a Music Video goes to – Voca People!
The mime-looking international a cappella octet, who performed at the Palladium in 2013, have crafted a funny and touching long-distance performance of “Life Is Beautiful,” theme from the 1997 film of the same title. The video is “dedicated with love to all the medical teams around the world,” the group says.
