Usher Spotlight: Terry Coyle

It’s Tuesday and time for another Usher Spotlight, where we recognize the dedicated members of The National Bank of Indianapolis Usher Corps. More than 300 volunteers devote thousands of hours each year to serve the community through the Center and the Great American Songbook Foundation.

This week’s spotlight falls on Terry Coyle, who shares the lesson that it’s never too late to rock!

Pro tips from Michael Feinstein and Laura Osnes

Yesterday, the Songbook Academy® released the third installment of its Masterclass Moments series, offering highlights from the Academy’s video archives. This particular moment – recorded before a live audience in July 2019 – features Michael Di Leo of Waban, Massachusetts, performing “All I Need Is the Girl” from Gypsy with music director Mel Shore.

Making her first appearance in the series – though not her first at the Academy – is multiple Tony Award nominee Laura Osnes (CinderellaBandstand), who teams with five-time Grammy nominee and Great American Songbook Foundation Founder Michael Feinstein to show Di Leo how to physicalize and find the joy in telling the story of his song.

Tune in for fresh episodes every Monday at 7:30 p.m. EDT on the Songbook Academy’s Facebook page and Instagram TV channel! Learn more about the new video series at TheSongbook.org/Masterclass-Moments.

New Spotify playlist: Printing Partners Classical Series

This season’s Center Presents Printing Partners Classical Series got off to a great start last fall with performances by COLLECTIF9, Sir James and Lady Galway, and NFM Wroclaw Philharmonic. Sadly, we’ll have to wait for another time to see the Siberian State Symphony Orchestra and the American Brass Quintet.

But you, classical music fan, can still enjoy these wonderful artists and ensembles at the click of a button as we unveil our next hand-curated Spotify playlist! And here’s the button:

American Brass Quintet can really cook

Speaking of ABQ: Like many musical artists and ensembles who are taking time off the road, they have released a new video to help fans keep their spirits up. This physically distanced performance of composer Jennifer Higdon’s “Fanfare Quintet” is impressive not only for its musical prowess, but also for the culinary skill displayed in the various members’ kitchens.

BON APPETIT!
