Since the early ‘70s, Florida guitar heroes Molly Hatchet have been injecting a heavy dose of boogie into Southern rock, crafting bluesy, metal-adjacent tunes like “Flirtin’ With Disaster,” “Gator Country,” “Whiskey Man,” “Bounty Hunter,” “It’s All Over Now” and the slow building monster tune “Dreams I’ll Never See”.

Molly Hatchet has been around for over 50 years churning out guitar riffs and boogie that fans still can’t get enough of. The band was originally formed by guitarist Dave Hlubek in Jacksonville in 1971. They experienced popularity and commercial success during the late 1970s and early to mid-1980s amongst southern rock and hard rock communities. They released six wildly successful studio albums on Epic Records between 1978 and 1984, including the platinum-selling hit records Molly Hatchet (1978), Flirtin' with Disaster (1979) and Beatin' the Odds (1980). They also had charting singles on the US Billboard charts, including "Flirtin' with Disaster", "The Rambler", "Bloody Reunion" and "Satisfied Man". Molly Hatchet has released many more studio albums since their split with Epic Records in 1985, although none have been as successful as their early albums, but their fanbase remains very strong particularly for their live shows.

Recently, Molly Hatchet released a brand new song “Firing Line” which they recorded at the famous Abbey Road Studios in the UK. The song was produced by the band’s Bobby Ingram, engineered by Chris Bolster (Paul McCartney, Foo Fighters, Elton John), and mastered by Lucy Launder and Alex Wharton (Paul McCartney, Rolling Stones).

“Firing Line” is available on all digital platforms, listen here: orcd.co/mollyhatchet_firingline

Ingram said of the new recording, “Throughout history, humanity has fought to stand up for what is right and defend the wrongfully accused. “Firing Line” is a depiction of standing up for yourself on that fine line between the truth and being falsely accused by the system, and by doing so, standing up for yourself to protect your integrity and fight for what is right.”
