Serenade
// Monday, Jan 1, 12am ET

Event Details
The German composer Franz Wüllner first introduced Serenade in 1882. That same year, conductor Richard Strauss showcased the orchestral work in a Dresden performance, attracting the attention of renowned conductor Hans von Bülow, who played a role in advancing Strauss’s career. While Serenade has a classical formal structure, its melodic content hints at vibrant themes rich with passion and lyricism, which Strauss explores in his later works.
The Indiana Wind Symphony’s concert featuring Serenade will include various chamber ensembles, focusing on pieces composed during the Romantic Period.
