SALEM, a new one-act ballet, features an original score by composer Cory Gabel and a storyline that not only acknowledges Salem, MA, in its 400th Anniversary, but what could possibly lie in wait under dark futuristic, dystopian, autumn skies. SALEM will give a nod to the town's dark past, and a mirror to a future that none of us can afford to ignore.
Also on the bill is the world premiere of OPHELIA. Based on the doomed character from Shakespeare's Hamlet, OPHELIA takes the audience on a journey of madness that possesses the character in a tour de force of stunning dance. Both world premieres will pair the choreographic storytelling talents of Hancock and a commissioned score from Cory Gabel. Finally, add the return of LA LLORONA, a visually stunning work that explores the Mexican folklore story of a doomed spirit, "the weeping woman", who spends eternity wailing for her lost children after a fit of rage and impossible choices ends their lives. All these pieces fit together to create the perfect topper to dark autumn nights.
